$11,000 onoI am the second owner having bought the car completely stock in Nov 2010 with 34000 on the odometer. In December 2011 I installed an 80mm Tough Dog lift kit (springs, shocks, panhard rods), Jimny bits extended brake lines and rear shock relocation brackets and some 15x7 -13 steel wheels.
August 2012 saw the installation of an M18A for more power. At the time of the conversion the car had 53970kms on the odometer and the M18A that was installed came out of a Suzuki Liana with 56000kms on the odometer. A new clutch was installed at the same time purely for convenience.
The car has been certified under the NSW VSCCS (engineer’s certificate) by Sean Kelly of SRK Engineering in Bathurst with some testing performed by Treeve Andrew of Kernow Engineering in Orange.
Despite the modifications this Jimny has only ever been used off road a handful of times and never abused as it is also my daily driver. The car was recently serviced (December 2014 @ 73xxxkms) and the front brake rotors and pads have also been changed recently (February 2015).
There are a few bad points that need to be mentioned; a small oil leak from rear of gearbox, and some slight wheel wobble that can occasionally be felt at around 60-70km/h.
The rear seats are currently installed in the car but I will also include a flat floor and rear shelf that has been custom made to fit in place of the rear seats. I was intending to build a single drawer into the shelf but no longer have the time to complete it. I will include the set of drawer slides and some matching marine carpet so the job can be completed.
- Tim.
