try wiggling it but leave the nut on a few threads or just yank really hard but make sure the nut is on, or your gonna get smacked in the head

A bearing puller works too if you have a decent sized one.

ahahah

i normally do the push pull method, left hand push, right hand pull and back and forth till you feel it coming off the tapered spline. No wheel in face then.

i always just leave the nut on and give it quick jabs with an open palm, around the entire wheel. that normally wiggles it lose.

Another way to try is to leave the nut on, put pressure on the wheel pulling it towards you with your knees or the help of a mate and whack the nut with a hammer. The puller method is the best of the lot though.

Best way I've found especially on old cars with very valuable steering wheels EG GT Falcons is to loosen the nut but not remove it then push on one side of the wheel with gentle force then push on the other side. Repeat a couple of times and this will loosen the lock on the tapered splines. Wheel will just lift off.

The first time it happened to me was on my old bosses demo derby car and he had one of them knob things that ya get on forklift steering wheels, that copped me straight on the nose and the result was a broken nose and a boss that wouldn't stop laughing

The second time i wish it was only a broken nose i got
