ok...
managed to fit a rear sierra dif into the front of my vitara. With no experience with rear sierra diffs and which way is up. I stupidly manage to place the sierra rear upside down (which is the only way is was going to fit without major mods to case or diff crossmember), to find i now have two diffs going opposite directions..

I know the sierra rears are not symetrical and highly dought this is possible. But is there a way to internally flip the sierra internals inside the carrier to allow it to spin the opposite direction?

otherwise i gotta do major things underneath the car to make it fit

uber buggerup

cheers

any chance of getting a sierra front in there, as the suzuki circle spin ratio is all messed up with a rear diff in the front.

i was looking at your build up pics thinking that pinion flange is way high & up to the right.

im quiet sure there are no sierra front internals that are 26 splined. (someone feel free to prove me wrong)

Yes the front is way up high but that was the only way i could install it. its not to bad tho. The lengths all line up and runs well with all the wheels in the air  Will trying again at pulling it all out and flipping it.

what do u mean by spin ratios?

i took the ring and pinion front my vitara internals and put them in the sierra housing. So they should spin the same as the rears.

ignore the circle spin ratio... it was a lame attempt at a joke  someone asked why there wheels rotated the opposite direction & that was a drunken reply by someone on here.

is the sierra pinion rear carrier up the right way or has it been rotated 180, i think it need to be up the other way?

this thread talks about using the front carrier, but i don't know enough about the sierra diffs to know what im looking at.

All these people are runnning the sierra rear diff in the front with standard drop arms. Its different with the extended diff drop brackets in place, or in my case the anvil housing.

The simple solution to this problem is to flip the diff. But there is no room to do so in my case as it kits the cross member. Will try and flip it on the weekend. Will just have to modify the crap out of everything because of room issues.

to get the right rotation you'll need to spin the carrier 180

It is possible to fit a sierra rear 3rd member into a vitara front housing the right way up but clearance is VERY tight.

The diff will install either way up.

No. The gears are cut in one direction, so they will only go together one way. You can't turn the centre around.

What I meant is that the third member will install in the axle housing either way up.

you may need more oil in the diff, to compensate for the elevated pinion. or else you will cook the pinion bearings
