i recently bought a 2000 model jimny with a g13bb motor. it has been driving fine besides with the past week it has like kangaroo hoped 2 times. 1st time was when i was in 2nd gear going through a round about it started to kangaroo hop, it only hoped 2 or 3 times then it drove fine after that. 2nd time was today on the highway doing 100 did it about 8 times in a row, i put it in neutral and gave it a rev then put it back in 5th and it drove fine again. today was raining and not a hot day. just woundering if it is a crank sensor or cam sensor or is it some like plugs, leads, fuel filter, bad batch of fuel. the motor just dies then a second later comes back on again, it has not stalled. has anyone else had this problem?

I`d say cam sensor if it`s heat related, normally the cam sen start`s so shit on the highway, being at the back of the eng bay it get`s no cool air, that`s were I`d start to look, It also throw`s no code of it`s own, eng light may flash & a misfire detected will be stored it the ecu, but I would still cheak the coil pack`s to.....

Crank angle sensor she'd totally cut out I think while doing 100. When mine went I had to quickly pull over until it reset. My Jimny has M13A motor so may be a bit different.

When you were going around the round about, how much fuel did you have. A hard right corner in a Jimny with low fuel will cause it to not pick up fuel for a moment as the remaining fuel sloshes to one side.

Cool down, It`s just a magnetic switch, nothing to reset, if it was the m13a I would go straight to the crank sen as it sit`s behind the alt & get`s NO air to it ...Common as.........................
G13bb runs a cam sen were the dizzy used to be, so a little bit of air flow, still fuck all tho.. If your running 95 octane or over, It will wore than likely be the cam sen.. however, running wasted spark coil`s, when a coil is on the way out it will always drop off the hardest to send spark down.... Being the lead..so if you have a scan tool & you have a no1 or 3 missfire, coil, multipal random??? cam pos sen.

Fuck that took ages to type.

it was a full tank. so it could be a cam sensor? where about are the fuel filter on the jimny? id like to replace it anyway. would it be an idea to try and have a cold air intake pipe pointing onto the cam sensor to keep it cool?

No, if fuel is getting to the cam sen, your in trouble.
cam sen replace`s the distributor, it count`s the revolution`s of the cam & send that signal to the ecu, ecu think`s bout stuff & tell`s the coil`s to do their job, If the CAS (cam sen) is slightly buggered it will send the wrong sig or a late sig, causing a miss.. The cam sen`s are a common miss in Suzuki`s,
The reason I ask about fuel is thay HATE 91 or E10

Hi Steknig, what I know is that it took about 15 mins before the Jimny would fire and run. Very likely, and you'd know much better than me, that as you mention the heat was more the issue. The sensor probably just had to cool down. Explains a few things. I had thought that it was the computer needing to default back or something. Once I had the Crank Angle Sensor replaced in mine (under warranty) all was good.
