Hey legends, new to the Zook scene so forgive me.
Looking to upgrade tyres and rims and a little confused about the best rim offset.
Has 2 inch suspension lift and no body lift. Wanting something midrange like 235/70/15 or maybe next size up if I can, which are too wide for factory rims.
What offset rims should I be looking for?
From what I can tell, the coilys use a different rim offset than leaf.
Any suggestions would or link to another thread would be appreciated.

Cheers

Correct. A stock coil sierra is 25p. I’d be surprised if you can find a 235 70 15, 235 75 is the normal size and it’s a big big to fit without rubbing and without gearing correction

I’d look for a 0 offset 6” rim.

Thanks for the reply mate.
Cool I thought I was roughly on the right track. Just don’t want to buy and find out the hard way.
There seems to be commonly available 15x7 rims in a few offset ranges from P25 to N13.
Correct the 235/70R15 is not a commonly available tyre, I’ve found a few different brands online. It equates to 28” compared to stock 26.3” so not a huge jump. Will be a pain if I need replacements though, as will need to be a special order.
The 235/75R15 equates to a 28.9” tyre, so would likely be too much without body lift and guard mods I think.

Trying to avoid body lift, though may have to do 1 inch to go with the Vitara G16b conversion I'm in the process of doing.
Will see how that turns out with bonnet clearance, will probably look at doing custom engine mounts and or a G13bb inlet manifold rather than body lift.

Thanks again mate.

215 75 15 is 28" diameter, a common size, goes on the stock rims, and is legal. Id be doing that before messing with an uncommon size and buying rims for them to end up with practically the same diameter.

while your there Steve ,, i fitted a set of new fully balanced 215r15 on a set of jimny factory rims to my 94 leaf swb sierra 2yr ago (rare size) 2" lift efs , 2"drop pitman , and developed a death wobble striaght up, previous on those rims 205x70r15 (Standard) absolutley no probs .I removed a shim on the king pin bearing to put some preload on them , and aded a little toe in ,, cured the problem , (but i feel just marsked it like a steering damper on a seventys bike ), Move forward to today , rego time was few weeks ago, tires where down left front a result probly of a little toe in . I couldnt find a tire in nsw that size wanted to keep simaler diameter, i fitted 235x75r15 on the same rims death wobble resurfaces bump induced and even roadsuface induced .So off to a front end guy needed to get rego check , i got him to rebalance fronts checked for rim tire run out ect, and we put it on a rotary brand digital 4 wheel alignment machine , all links bearings steering ect checked out ok passed rego and it has 1* of castor on one side , which aparantly is a biult in factor for road camber of your country lhd or rhd , and he put factory toe in on . death wobble still there , i fitted a new set of shocks not that i thought that would help they where due for repalacment, others where from a previous lift that where to long and from F100 and rodeo .So even though all was tight i rebiult front hubs , wheel bearings, king pin bearings, felt and rubber knuckle ball seals , still D/W .... Ok im getting little frustrated by now I mean its not like 35s on stock diffs ect . i decided to throw 3* castor on it so son machined some up at work , so car would have 4* L/S 3* R/S result was D/W still there but more violent, which leaves me with the thought , the standard offset rims , with a larger diameter tire has put it in a negative scrub radius im needeing to get 10mm more offset to reclaim original scrub , (I dont run front steer stabilzer shock never have on all my zooks) whats your thoughts ? my rims in pic below .

I think you're on the right track.

Gregc was running 35 10.5 KR2's on stock sierra rims, beadlocked. This is obviously an extreme case, but he had persistent and severe death wobble, and all the normal things wouldn't fix it. Never wobbled with 8" rims and 35 13.5 Krawlers. I think he did end up fitting a steering damper as he was out of options. He's subsequently fitted 1" wheel spacers which I suspect has quietened things down.

ok , with the spacers he would have come back to a posative s/r , and that was my last option , i like the rims a 10mm spacer will bring it back to stock s/c for my tire size
thanks for input !
