I'm aware that someone in QLD was working on one of these conversions.

Does anyone know if it was completed? Has anyone seen a (or "the") car with this conversion? Anyone know what gearbox it runs?

92Kw/270Nm on overboost

Peak torque is all in at 2200rpm, rev limiter appears to be ~6500/6750 rpm.

Intake and exhaust is on the same side as a G motor.

I'm becoming interested in getting involved in a bit more tech with a project. I had initially considered a whole new build using a 2.0 ecoboost/ ZF 6HP from a ecoboost falcon, but maybe I stick with the suzuki for a bit longer and look at the 1.0.

What gearbox are you thinking of running? As far as I know the only rwd boxes are what they run in formula ford.

I assume you will be looking at a whole car for full wiring and stock ecu?


There is talks about the fiat 124 1.4 turbo mx5 roadster using similar castings as the 1.0 eco boost, but take with a very big pinch of salt as obviously is a 3 cyl and the other is a 4 cyl. If it works could have a 6 speed auto mated to the already awesome torque band

I’d be happy to stick with the AW-4. The torque peak and range of the ecoboost would more than cover the big gap between 2nd and 3rd.

No, I’d be looking at stand alone management. I don’t want to have to try and make the ECU think it’s still in a fiesta.

This isn’t a project for next week, it’s a longish term plan if it comes off at all.

In fact if true, finding a crashed fiat would be very difficult, but would make for an awesome conversion.

120kw at 5500rpm
250nm at 2500rpm
6500rpm redline
All mated to a 6 speed auto

Abf no difficult direct injection to worry about

Take this ratios with a pinch of salt too but I think the auto is geared as:
3.53
2.06
1.40
1.00
0.71
0.58

Sure but I’m not looking for a 120kw motor. The appeal of the 1.0 ecoboost it’s tiny so I can package it in my engine bay without the suspension getting in the way, it might have low enough power it won’t eat my driveline, and it’s very light. It’s like cheating engine setback, which I’d love to do but is impractical.

If I wanted to go to a 4 cylinder the obvious choice is the Falcon ecoboost. Whole undamaged cars are dirt cheap, the ZF HP6 is unstressed in the application and there’s plenty of local parts support. But I don’t have enough driveline (or space) to deal with that motor/box combination.

I get the appeal of the 1.0.
Huge torque spread
Perfect power for a sierra
Small, light etc

If you can get it mated to an AW4 with custom bell housing and torque convertor it would be a win. Keep in mind its still a relatively tall engine for a 1.0, but it is small

I would do the research on stand alone ecu for it as the direct injection will limit you. Cant just stick a haltech on.

I think bosch do a stand alone for the 2.0 ecoboost but adaptation to a 3cyl might be hard. And then you need to find a tuner who can tune D.I. or learn yourself. I personally think since you are only wanting stock power anyway, getting a good auto electrician to get the stock ecu working will be your best bet.

If it's not possible to run a stand alone ECU then it's not a feasible conversion, I'd need to look at something else. I'm not running a factory ECU - the whole point of the exercise is to get involved in an aftermarket ECU, PDM etc. I don't want to have to run a fiesta rear window washer or seatbelt buckles so I can get the car to start or whatever other CAN stupidity it throws up.

Holley selling aftermarket ECU's that drive the LT4 direct injection so it obviously can't be hard. :lol:

Anyway, that's why I asked the question. the car was nearing completion apparently circa 2018 so if it's been out there running hopefully someone has seen it. If it's sitting in a shed somewhere because the CAN won't let the car fire up without Ford air in the tyres I'd like to know because I'll look for options elsewhere or commence a new build in the future that uses an engine with adequate support.

MoTec offer an M142 that will drive direct injection It's a $5.5K option, but there's proof it's not impossible with 5 minutes of searching.

Things might have changed, but the M142 is vehicle specific and has licencing etc with it and generally has the same level of intergration as a stock ecu. Its not the normal 1 size fits all of your average aftermarket ecu. In saying that ut may still work, but I would be emailing them in detail with your plans first.

The stock bosch ecoboost ecoboost ecu can be remamped, but not sure how much of the stock can bus parameters can be taken out to allow the vehicle to run in an okder vehicle. Would be something worth investigating though.

Sorry if I sound negative. Its an awesome oroject and I really do hope you manage to work it out proceed with it.

I want to see the " Boosterjet " in something. Preferably the model from the Swift Sport, but the Vitara one would suffice me.

Especially with a few of the HKS upgrades.

Interesting idea. SCS-Delta makes a complete standalone ECU for the Ford 1.0 EcoBoost and the Ford 1.0 GDI ecoboost (Hyundai's version).

They might be able to help you out.
