Well I have 3 LJ50's to restore and only one Bonnet and it is not real good so I patched it up and have made a mold from it - Just a few bits to patch up (Gel-cote was a bit old ) but I will now be able to make as many as I need that do not have the big rounded corners of most of the fiberglass ones you see.

@JDK81 - Mold cost about $130 in material and a bonnet will cost about $100 plus a days labor @ Atari - Many years ago I did a bit but just do a bit now and then when I have a need. And there is always YouTube to catch up on the latest ideas

youtube knows everything, i can see there being a bit of demand for these as people are always chasing bonnets, the other one to look into would be grills.

I have a few grill so "I'm all right Gus - I mean Jack" But I have thought about them so who Knows? - I am about to go out and see if I can find a good headlight bucket to make a mold from right now. Sideways - I haven't thought about it? Tanshi - You will need ones with scoops and built in Roll Bars won't you?

tony,
FYI for headlight buckets, i used some from a morris/leyland mini, fits straight in, are worthless and they are available new. only issue is that they are metal not plastic, so if originality is a concern then another alternative needs to be found

According to people I have talked to in the spare parts game any LJ50's with metal ones have had replacements made but that is what I have been told I don't KNOW that to be true all I know is out of 5 body's I have here all are plastic and all are stuffed. As far as mini ones are concerned - Not available in my local wreckers as there are none - wreckers that is Looking at the New mini ones they run between $100 and $200 a pair depending where they come from - Once I have made the mould (Underway now) I can make my own for about $10 each and have them here when I need them - And it's fun They will be strong and rust proof - something neither of the types available are

Got enough pieces of plastic bucket together to make a plug for a mould of the LJ50 headlight bucket. Can anyone tell me if the same bucket was used in the other LJ's?

i think the LJ80's used a metal copy of the 50's one, but there is surely a crossover into both
