Havent checked the date, but at the price im happy to give them a shot,
if they peel open or lack grip ill buy km2s in 10.5 width

fingers crossed tho,

I bought a set new in 2004, kinda funny to think they are oldschool now
I might have to get some funky graphics to match

Tires Manufactured Since 2000

Since 2000, the week and year the tire was produced has been provided by the last four digits of the Tire Identification Number with the 2 digits being used to identify the week immediately preceding the 2 digits used to identify the year.

Wow- 2001 is pretty old. I hope they soften up ok without cracking. I had a set from 1997 that cracked pretty badly once they were that age.

Will be interesting to see how they go,
the guy I got them off has had them in his shop on a rack since about 2006,
he said he bought a gq to get the motor out of, and he kept the tyres
if they blow out its no huge loss, but worth a shot for some cool sized treads

its cool how tall and skinny they are. can you still get something that tall and skinny new anymore or is it all discontinued? had a bit of a look but couldnt find anyhting that tall and thin without it having a stupid size rim in the middle.

I think 235/85/16 or 33x10.5x15 would be the closest option,

n00b question if i can, had some hankook mt 215 75 15 tyres fitted to my jimny today, what pressure should i be running ?

i've searched for forum & came up with this (basically saying 28psi):
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5025&p=66646

as per that fella the tyre fitted pumped the tyres up to 40-42psi & told me to keep it that way when i commented. clearly it's far too high so i pulled them all back to 30 but just want your thoughts/experience.

Getting new tyres in 225,75,16

Choosing between

Maxxis AT980 @ $275
Brisgestone D697 @ $240
BF Goodrich AT @ $225
Nexen AT2 @ $223

Im leaning towards the Bridgies. Anyone recommend anything else or which of these to go?

General Grabber AT2s get a lot of good reviews and are similar to the tyres you've listed.

I reckon Goodyear duratracs are pretty darn sexy looking but are a bit more aggressive (and expensive).

We had D697s on the hay trailer on the farm and never got a puncture, pretty impressive considering what they were put through.

I wouldn't touch BFG A/Ts, poor wet weather performance (particularly when worn), crap on sand and not exactly quiet. They're a 25 year old design now. There's a new BFG A/T which will hit the racks (at least in the U.S) in November which will be interesting.

EDIT We're getting a pretty good run out of the Nexen AT2s on the farm Land Cruiser too, they're surprisingly good in mud for a mild A/T and they're doing quite well for punctures.

Bridgestones D697 where a great tire, good for rocky terrain. I just replaced them with the General Grabber AT2 and rate them a mile better than the bridgestones esp for mud, great overal tyre and cost me 220 each. Prob around the 230-240 mark for a 225 75

No stock of the 225,75,16 so he is getting me 235,70,16 for $40 a tyre cheaper! With a 30 day gaurantee that if im not happy with them i can bring them back for a full refund. Im just worried that my tyres will rub more. The 225,75,16 now slightly rub on chassis rail. Should be ok i think.
