Wat should i do with gearing in my vitara build option A- 5.12 and vit tc gears with 31. How bad will the auto be on the highway Stick some agressive 33-34 on it and trailer it to hard tips
or option B - put 4.8 and dual case setup i have. and run say 33 km2 all the time. Wat do people think
Depends what you drive. I love my tc gears 98% of the time, but they suck on sand with 30 and 31's. Would be fine with taller tyres, though. I tow the trailer with a 1.6 Auto lwb and it is only just tolerable on long trips, but fine around town. Auto gets warmer in high range driving than it does off road. It is very much happier on the highway now its on 30's. I would not consider going any bigger for highway use. I'd love taller tyres in low range, and smaller in high range. If I had the option, high range reduction would be desirable. (But would need 31 or 32's at least for low range) Reason I never chose twin case option was fear of the strength issues, with a heavier car and bigger engine into a Sierra case. Bigger tyres can be a magnet for trouble from the law, trailering would be wiser if go that option anyway. I'm hoping for some 5:72 diff gears one day.
