[DMAC]

Well with the front bar and winch install done and dusted, sliders were the next on the list of things to do.

Started with a straight bar and brackets.


Front mount


Rear Mount.


Sill bar in place.


Wing welded in place.


Bolted in place.






Just have to make a middle support bracket and the drivers side. Paint it up and I'll be ready to attack the rear bar.
Don't know whether to grind off the sill brackets or put the original side plastic sills back on. LTM wants them off.

It's a bit iffy on the I touch, but is that rear mount to the body as well as the chassis??

Nup, sorry fourby did it to save some dollars. The hours put in would make it way too expensive. It was a mission ,as I don't even have a proper bench or vice to work with. Ever tried notching tube with a hand drill.

Fantastic effort on those sliders DMAC. They look very solid.

Here's my take on sliders for sierras...

Ok i'm only gonna say it once. i don't understand why people go down this track when making sliders, you have now effectively reduced your guard clearance by at least 2 inchs. Which means things you never used to get hung up on will now be scraping everywhere....lucky you have sliders everyone might say!!!!

http://www.off-road.com/trucks4x4/artic ... ?id=277648 - This is a way to build sliders, but if I was going to do it I would bolt them straight to the body sills and plate the inners to spread the load. a loss of only 20mm maximum and nothing hanging below to get hung up on. When i get around to building mine i'll post a thread about it.

50mm body lift and 40mm OD pipe slider rail... Where is the lost clearance????

I think you'd be losing 4 or 5 inches of clearance having tube/pipe sliders?

If you chop out your sills and do angled box sills you wll gain an inch, so that's a fair bit of clearence (6 inches?) over someone wih normal tube sliders. A definate advantage

Whew that was an easy fix I added an "l". Wish all my mistakes were that easy to fix.

As for losing 50mm less clearance and getting hung up more than anything else.
My take is the chasis and suspension brackets all sit lower and I hit them more. Just wanted to protect the sills without hacking into the panel work. I did like the functionality of the square sliders Dank, but I'm a round type of a guy.

LTM21 needs the little step to help get in too.

No worries Dank. I kinda wished I had seen the right angle style before I started. It is in the design bank now.
1. It doesn't interfer with the panels.
2. Simpler
3. Could quite easily put a wing on it too without notching.

I'm sure it won't be the last set of sliders I make. The Zuk bug bites hard.
