I asked the same thing on another forum, but in a much more polite manner, and was accused of being a troll and told to go away.

But since this forum doesn't mind the odd uncouth comment...... GFY Glanza

Even if you could justify the shift light, why did pick about 4600 rpm?

Given a shift light is generally for performance reasons.... Have a look at this dyno graph, you're shifting WAY before max power and when you shift you're dumping it back down into the lower parts of the power curve.

http://www.jimny-crew.com/jimny-on-the-dyno.html

Set it for a few hundred rpm before the rev limit if you want to give it any purpose. If you need a shift light to tell you when you're revving it a little bit high around town you should probably be driving an auto.

I love being picked on, makes me stay, not leave.

I don't hear my motor very well, but with a manual Sierra I could feel when to change easily enough.

Shift light could be wise for completely deaf drivers.

The OP owns a Jimny. Rev limiter makes a shift light redundant for every purpose bar racing... for which a jimny is redundant.

@Rick, surely from reading other posts you had at least an inkling that a shift light would result in smartassery.
