Hi guys I'm in the middle of putting rear speakers. One source online says that the wire with the black stripe is positive however the speaker cable says the black stripe is negative anyone able to tell me?

Thanks guys

The solid colour wire is positive... That colour with a stripe of a different colour (usually black) is negative :)

Done and dusted. Now have 5 1/4 inch jvc's in the back. I wouldn't call it great but even with factory fronts it's a hell of alot better.

at the end of the day doesnt really matter if u plug the positive cable on the positive or negative plug... it still going to work, the difference is instead to have the speaker go "forward-back-forward", it would go "back-forward-back", making the same sound.

what it really matter is that you plug the left and right speakers on the same concept... so if u use the "solid color" cable for positive(or negative) on the "L" speaker, do the same for the "R" speaker, so both move on the same pattern, otherwise you'll have sound and frequencies cancellation as a negative sound wave would meet a positive one

same principle aplies for front and back speakers... just use the same color code cable for the same plug on each speaker and ull be fine
