Lol, I never heard of Vits having Alloy diffs until i came on this site. Just wondering what suzuki was thinking, there way of thinking was to make Suzukis Tough and true off roaders and nothing like soft roaders (RAV4)s etc. Most likely was done that way to keep them lite?

I have no idea what my XL-7 uses, the service manual says its Hypoid gears, i always had a GV 2.5L manual that came with car, prob Lazy dealer at the time, but even the badge in the engine bay says its a 2.5L but the motor ID says its a 2.7L lol, but when off road the DIFFS act like LSD or really kinda like all wheels are locked together, When run the SDT it Detects DIFF Lock but when try and access it says not supported thinking the SDT really only works on north American vehicles with that kind of thing as displays Equator, which my car def isnt.

With ABS/Tracs the Computer monitors all wheels, brake switch, has a Gforce sensor ABS Pump relay etc etc, pretty damn complicated. New GVS are even more complicated.

None of these are for Suzukis (AFAIK aside from the KAM) but I've been looking into it lately so here's some other types of locker.

OX cable operated locker for Danas.

Maxidrive vacuum lockers for Land Rovers.

This shows the protruding part of the centre and cut down bearing adjuster.

The Vacuum unit on the housing.

KAM electric locker. Yes I know it was posted earlier but this shows you how it works. They do make these for Suzukis, a lot of work to fit though.

Jimny with one. :D

Tractech Electric locking LSD.

Jack McNamara. I've got some 4WDing magazines from the early 80s with ads for his lockers, Land Rover axles and "6 gear" centres. :)

Air locker. Toyota and Rover are done in this style.

Air locker for Dana and Salisbury.

Vacuum lockers.

Worlds simplest manual locker. Basically the cross shaft has a spline cut inside it and you wind the axle in to make it engage with those splines and lock the diff.

The chariot spike that you use to operate said simple locker. You turn the bolt on the end.

Thanks

Now I've been looking on eBay at the various options there. What's the story with mini spools?
Obviously they're cheaper but are they likely to leave you stranded somewhere?

Not sure about the Spartan lockers but the Sierra and Vitara Lockrights are identicle. The only difference is in the crosspins supplied. You get new ones in the Sierra kits but not in the Vitara kits.
