hey i just recently come back from a 6000 km trip up to cape york and back to brisbane, all went well as i was able to drive back.....
how ever on my way up i engaged 4wd and noticed a slight grinding noise i can only imagine is comeing from the front diff, since continuing to keep driving the car to complete my trip the noise has become louder though it doen't seem to affect anything????? i changed the gear oils in the diffs before i left as the car had done 7500km and wanted to change the factory oil to remove any metal debris from the factory which there was quite a bit the oil was dis coloured and the magnet had a fair bit of shavings on it.... since i returned and during the trip i checked the front diff and the oil looks great no filings and definitly not a sign of water...

was really hoping someone might know what the noise is?
i also fitted a jb lift kit before i left and had a 1" prop shaft spacer machined and fitted on the transfer case end of the front prop shaft would any of these things maybe be to blame?

Do you really need the spacer with the lift? Most lift you don't need a spacer. Especially 1"

Pullout your front shaft and check the uni's. They can seize and cause vibration.

apperently due to the castor corrected radius arms the spacer is nececary,
ill check the uni its something i have not looked at yet
also after taking of the noisy mud terrain and putting road tyres back on the noise more sounds like its coming from further back maybe t/c? i removed the spacer as well thought maybe if it were not balanced it could be the cause
the noise appears when engaging 4x4 and also when you take the foot off the accelerator, while accelerating the noise is gone??

Hmmm I have a JB 3" lift fitted in 98 Jimny with all the fruit and no prop spacer, I do have one sitting in my garage but never fitted it. Haven't had a problem with tailshaft pulling out as yet. I do have loads of whines and grinds etc from transfer and gearbox etc but put that down to wear and tear as car has done well over 300k

yea all the mounts seem fine
ill leave the spacer out if it dosn't need to be there.
its a shame bout the noises since the car only done 15000klm and 3 months old it all still works just thought things would last longer
maybe its just a good excuse to replace the t/c with a sierra wt one with gearing sooner than i had planned :)

Take it in and get it looked at under warranty then... Just take the spacer out first ;)

that was the first thing i did but the dealer wants nothing to do with it, cause quote "suzuki doesn't like modified vehicles" hence why i thought i would try here before i take it to a mechanic and pay for an opinion

and yes i took the spacer out and the 235's m/t tyres off.... i left the suspension on though
and my back seat was not in either so they couldn't road test the car cause it was un road worthy

all good ill keep driving it with the whines and grinding noises, till it breaks what ever it is thats causing the noise... than ill know what it was  just hope its not dangerous cant see why it would be

That's absolute bullshit! They can't tell you that it's in roadworthy because it has no back seats in it! Just the same as te noise is obviously a drivetrain problem (from what you've described) and has nothing to do with the suspension. The only thing that is void I warranty is your suspension... Because it doesn't exist!

Don't let them tell you otherwise!

i can kinda understand the back seat thing cause its registered as a 4 seater and only has two in it. but they were definatly trying everything not to touch it
and what you say bout the suspension warranty this is what i thought too.

the best bit is i took it for its 15000 k sevice while i was there for the warranty claim, and they changed oil and oil filter thats it!! the fluid in power steering needed topping up the air filter definaatly needed changing as i just drove 6000 ks through red bull dust etc it was filthy and still is, never road tested the vehicle etc all the things listed in the manual
ive contacted the service manager to complain but not getting very far
i want to keep winging but i really cant be f*cked and then they win! but i really not sure if i want them to be the ones that fix the car anyway, i would rather fix it my self so i know its done properly not half arsed like they service.

thats why i was after a few ideas as where to start, im quite capable of changing parts and servicing but not the greatest at diognosing the problems

Mate I had similar problems with the dealer I bought mine off... Try a different Suzuki dealer!

They can't knock you bak for having the rear seats out, just means no one can sit there!
