Harryhoudini: Thanks, im just curious to know if the upgraded cams are any good, but i do agree the standard cam does do its job pretty well.

TZAR: Sorry for the lack of info, I'm looking for an improvement over the standard cam id like to increase the torque without losing the top
end, that's why i ask about the higher rev range cam. From the info i have read this cam has a rev range of 2200 to 5500 and in theory
it sounds good for what im looking for but it's a lot of money to throw around when i cant find anyone that uses one, i have to drive it on the road a
fair bit so i still need the top end pull. id rather someone tell me if its good or bad before i waste my money on it. and ill have a go with a long screw driver and
see if i can narrow down the noise thanks for the suggestion. REDLINEGTI ill look em up thanks.

Hi Keensy85, i drove it around for a while with the noise but it got worse so its now in the garage
ready for new big end bearings. i managed to narrow it down to cylinder one by pulling the sump off
and looking for movement, there wasn't alot but enough to cause the noise.
I got the bearings today so ill probably start pulling it apart tomorrow night.
Here is the link to my build thread: http://auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 02#p649602
And my Facebook build page: http://www.facebook.com/ProjectStickOnRacing

Thanks for your help with this by the way :)

Try CAMTECH Cams, they do three different cams for a Sierra, I put their 749A in an engne that we rebuilt for a mates ute. They say their 749A is for bottom end and mid range power. It is a daily driver that does hiway runs, bush and beach and it performs well, it is stock except for a set of extractors.

I used to use a Crow Cam but my supplier tells me Crow dont make them anymore, I have not checked with Crow directly and it may be that he just changed to supplying CAMTECH. Not sure of the profile of the Crow Cam, they only supplied one profile designed for torque and mid range power, I thought they were pretty good.

Thanks 2stroker, i ended up getting a 272 cam from Lowrange offroad. i haven't put it in yet because i decided to build a
new 1.6, so im currently collecting stuff for the new motor.

I replaced the big end bearings in my current motor which has fixed the noise that i mentioned.

Did you get a sheet with the 272 telling the profile, I will have a look for the sheet from the 749A if it is still here and then we can compare them.
