How do I disconnect the shifter so I can drop the auto?

There's a little grub screw to remove the T handle isn't there??

its on a cable so i dont think it should stop you dropping the gearbox first

According to the manual you disconnect the end of the cable and it comes free then lower away .................

from what i remember the cable runs to the bottom of the shifter and there is a clevis pin

Cheers mate. I got the cable of he end of the shifter, hopefully it won't be stuck to anything else.
The vitara is a horrible thing to get in, worst stinking car I have had to deal with. It is truly revolting, can't believe the fella drove it around with a young baby in it. The sooner I can drag it out the back and set it on fire the better.

The poxy thing still won't come out. I will give it anouther try and if I can't get it the plasma is gunna get used
