Ok so.. from time to time when i start up the sierra it does one of the following.
A. starts normally.
B. Starts but there is a weird descending buzz which goes on for about 3 secs after start up.
C. Doesn't start up just makes a loud grind noise.

Auto choke has been taken out btw.
Any ideas on what i can do to fix it?

Check ur leads from ur batery to starter if the lead to the starter is frayed or loose it can cause that effect , also buddy try and tap her on the side if the starter don't smash it but just tap it a little and the solanoid I used to do that with my last zook every 6 months saved me some cash. And if u buy a new starter buy a g16 one as the fit the 1.3 and if u every part her out ill get some money back on it also id u do g16 conversion. U have a starter allready , there the same price so why not

x2, sound like the starter motor gear is sometimes not engaging fully on the flywheel and sometimes not disengaging properly.

A new starter should fix that (if flywheel gear is ok), or you could try taking the starter apart and re-greasing the sliding parts. Water/mud can get in there and gum it all up.
