Just replaced the 2 uni joints on my rear vit driveshaft.
One side is really tight, kind of hard to move by hand and it was quite hard to press the caps in to get the clips in. I have pulled it apart once already and made sure no bearings got unseated but its all good.
I suspect it got bent a little when pressing the old one out.. (This one was a PITA to remove and took quite a bit of force in the vice to get out)
Next time i do uni's i think i'll put something in between the ears to avoid bending them.
The one that's tight is on the diff end - the others are pretty loose and easy to rotate by hand.

Is it safe to install as is or will it cause me problems?

Too tight to move by hand isn't good....

I usually give each ear a good belt with a brass hammer after fitting a new uni to loosen them up if a bit tight.

Yeh i did that, the rest loosened up which is why i was thinking either a bearing got unseated or it bent when i pressed the old one out :(
I guess i will install it and see what happens, just hope the retaining clip doesn't fly out or something and cause mayhem underneath my car!

Cheers

Thanks for the input.
I will take it to a specialist to get fixed/balanced. I wasn't happy with it to begin with and after hearing that i think i don't wanna risk it!

Cheers
