Just a quick question for the Suzuki gods. Can a jimny manual steering box fit into a wt Sierra? I think I have better chances finding a tight jimny box then Sierra? If they fit what model/year?

Bolt straight in. Pitman arm slightly shorter, about 7mm i rekon, so you can move front diff slightly futher forward.

X2
Bolt it in like it was made for it.
Shorter pitman arm is good for moving diff forward but bad for turning lock. It would pay to extend the stopper bolts in the felt seals so you aren't loading the box at full lock.

Can't see any reason it won't work.

You don't have to move the diff... I'm not 100% but I don't think Sierra pitman will fit Jimny box.

How could a shorter pitman arm NOT affect anything?

Shorter pitman WILL reduce steering lock.
Longer pitman will try to increase it but stopper bolts in the hubs will prevent it. CV's can only turn so far.

Have you contacted 4wd Products?, they did have brand new steering boxes reasonably cheap.

Jas we had a play with a Jimny steering box a while back on a Nt chassis and it didn't actually reduce the steering lock because the hub stop bolts limited the steering lock before the steering box ran out of turns. In does mean more turns of the wheel to achieve same result and in theory it should lighten steering a little due to the better mechanical advantage of being shorter.

Jas you are right, the splines are different from sierra and jimny so pitman arm is not interchangeable.

Ok awsome so it's a bolt in jobby! No changing pitman arms or moving diffs!

I'll contact 4wd products. But I'd rather a genuine box, unsure of the quality of an aftermarket item? Though I don't have experience in that stuff so I can't really judge the quality I guess.
