Tell us about operating angle range and strength compared to stock?
Will the axles bolt up to standard gear, or need the diff and whole shebang?
How much needs to change for portals?
Looking forward to seeing it happen anyhoo... Yes, unis on both sides. unis don't try to spread balls in an outward direction when loaded. Unis run perpendicular. To use the axle you must use my stub axles. Portals can be run with standard Vit gear at the front and my full float at the rear. So far I have been able to model the chain and cogs. All I need to do now is model the Vit CV properly as well as bearing journals and a housing. So far it will give a total lift of 83mm and gear reduction of 1.23 to 1.

These would do wonders for my CV angles... I mean uni angles... AND gearing (I take it you can do matching sets for the rear end?) Can't wait.

There goes your engine conversion budget There is a mob in the Uk that makes bolt on portals for land rovers. Something like $8-10K for the set.

Depends how you value it... Just cos I couldn't afford it doesn't mean I'm not excited by the prospect of it existing.

Love your work Mate. Just picked up a sv420 and will be dropping the motor into my Lj40T. It's great to see yours and the way that it's fitted up. Although mines being built for Crawling with 60series diff's on 3 & 4 link suspension.

They take the place of your spindle, so there is no need to worry about the strut. I still have to model up the brakes and hub but here are some more images. Lift is 80mm, track increase is 90mm per side. I'm currently trying to find a shorter CV and its looking good. It has been modelled to represent milling from solid block and not cast. Price to be between 1000 to 1250 each corner.

If you want a market were you could sell thousands of them make the for the rear of VW and make lift spindles for the front. Cause the country buggy VW had them and sets sell for thousands cause they are so rare

But then I have to deal with VW type people......... Well....I'm getting calls for full float Vit rears and discs, and I'm getting calls for improvements to the front etc. This sort of fixes a lot of 'wants'. I pretty much have 2 sets commited if the prototype can handle a 2.5 V6, so anymore after that is a bonus. And I found a shorter bolt in CV for the top input

Would it be possible to have different size cogs for the portals, chain tensioning and case clearance could be an issue. Would make the things a lot versatile though to have a selection of ratio's.

There will not be any fancy arms. The decision to go with this setup has not been a quick one. It has been discussed with the relevant parties many times.
The primary aim is for this to be bolt on. The aim is that you can buy a standard vehicle, chuck these in, throw in some lockers and put your larger tyres on (no aftermarket suspension, no body lifts). It should be a weopon. Gear reduction will be 1.3 to 1. Any extra 'low' can be obtained via t/case gears. Those with autos will be able to get away without t/case gears.
I am having a meeting this weekend with the interseted parties. Some design changes so far have been the switch to 'silent chain', which is the same stuff used in transfer cases.
I will post more as the design progresses.
