Over head console for a current model Hiace? Really just want to stick the UHF up there so it can be really low profile. Price?

http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.php/suzuki-samurai-overhead-storage-tray-for-softop-models.htmlJust saying.... If you can create an overhead tray for $100 delivered then you might have a good product. But I mean, looking at that one from Low Range, in all honesty I could duplicate that to the T if not better without needing any tools other than a drill for the mounting holes and something to cut the sheet metal with. I could make those bends over my kitchen bench, then use pinchweld(stuff on the door sill of your cars) to cover the sharp edges. Instead of welding those small edges, You could do the same thing with a bracket on the inside of the tray and pop rivet it if you don't have a welder... OH, and i'd also carpet/grippy rubber the floor of the tray so it doesn't scratch itself or whatever your throw in. Maybe throw in 2-3 LEDs. You could have an extra optioned one with a small lockbox for $40 extra or something... With the centre consoles, there are a few places already that make them for a decent price. I'm not trying to rain on your parade by any means. I love it when people come up with new ideas for products at good prices. But maybe come up with something that isn't so readily offered/easily DIY'd in the market place. Perhaps a foldout rear table that bolts right on to your tailgate? A custom Jerry can holder with also holds your shovel? Some sort of bolt on kit that makes the 3 compartments in your tailgate in to flip out draws for your recovery gear? I've got more ideas for you, but i'm gonna shut up now

I can't compete with that price on the over head console
I am thinking around 120 for a basic Sierra center console plus shipping

That's not too bad. If it would look like the first pic you posted, I'm pretty sure you'd get a good following for potential customers.

sorry to hijack your thread but the easiest centre console guys is a ammunition box. (ex army) I got mine from downunder camping at coopersplains. Its about 300mm long 100mm wide and 200mm tall. it fits perfect between my seats and is fully waterproof with a lockable lid. Wack a bit of material in the bottom of it and its the perfect security/storage for wallets and mobile phones all for $25. If anyone wants a pic pm me!
However it doesnt look as beaut as your consoles mate. They look terrific.

ammo boxes. if there was a center console that could handle a drink, phone and wallet. whilst being water/dirt tolerable, i recon you'd get some orders.
