There may be some downtime from Tomorrow (Friday 10th) onwards for a couple of days. Hopefully now one will notice. We've now got our own server so will move over to it.
The old website was pushing the server limits and when we converted to phpbb3 it pushed it a little further so the change was coming sooner or later.
Once we're on the new server we can then get back to working on the site and turning on all the features and adding new ones.

Cool bananas. Would it have been easier to change to a new server at the same time as changing to phpbb3? Or would that have been too much work in one hit? And is there any way you can meter bandwidth usage from individual threads? Love to see how much the boobs thread chews up

We didn't know we were pushing the limits before and didn't think it'd matter anyway, as when we first got this account there was no CPU usage limit. I didn't know phpbb3 would use more either. We weren't planning on getting a new server until this account was suspended and they told us we can't continue like this. So the last week has been spent trying to reduce load and research new servers. It all sounds familiar doesn't it, same thing happened two years ago? So i suspect now we have a new awesome server we will get another two years before the shit hits the fan again.
We have been ignoring unimportant site issues for a couple of weeks because we can't really get started on rebuilding the site until all this crap is sorted out.
I'll be happy when all we have to worry about is spelling mistakes in someones post or why the PMs wont leave the outbox.

In theory we should not have load problems ever again, if we hit full cpu or memory it will be just like your pc, everything will slow to a crawl till it gets through it, then we can either just click to add more cpu's (sounds like adding turbos on Gran Turismo ) or let it, and therefore everyone here, suffer

I am hoping there is some kind of power control thing to turn it down to really slow when everyone annoys me

Looks like all systems go and now we can get back to normal again! In theory there'll be no more interuptions, unless we break it when installing new stuff, which is quite possible
