Can't work out how to get any decent results from the new search function, as an example I'm looking for a Snatch Strap thread that I know I've posted in & Moph also posted in it.

Search Google & it finds the link to the old forum but it's dead when you go to click on it.... http://www.google.com.au/search?q=XTM+r ... 20&bih=910

Type in "XTM 5000kg" in to the search function & it comes up with nothing PLEASE HALP, it's going to suck trying to find old threads

Nope, neither of them, it was specifically about the XTM branded recovery gear available at BCF, I'd usually search for something like 5000kg & XTM as I knew I typed it in the thread... now it comes up with nothing.

Moph also got all tech in it explaining some of the forces & loads that could occur when snatching.

I think the thread was started by Macdaddy.

that's my point, the old search function worked well, even for random hits, it's like the new one isn't searching the old forum properly?

5th Element? NFI what you're talking about, I'm guessing it's a TV show or something?

I think the thread is gone. Surly this would bring it up: search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=BCF+have+got

Haha, "the Fifth Element" movie with Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich.
Jovovich crashes through the roof of Willis's flying yellow cab, needs his help, can't speak English so reads a third world poverty ad headline which she mispronounces "please halp!".

Oh well, I thought it was a cool reference but now realise probably just a typo :|

Google won't help until it realises we have moved... It's indexed the old page addresses, and it will take time for that to shift over to the new ones.

Yeah the same server that has to put up with all you cocks clicking refresh has to re read everything to index for search, that takes a while.

Why is it when something major changes here, there are always people cant just let it be that a problem has been found and noted, they have to jump on and have a fucking sook, if it was me spent all this time doing this FOR YOU THANKLESS IDIOTS i'd just pretend to break it and leave it broken for eternity, show some fucking respect

I'm grateful and was trying to help confirm that it was the search function playing up and not threads missing. Will go back into my corner now.

I haven't finished the search indexing, it's a script that only runs when the browser is looking at it to keep refreshing it and takes a while. It's now up to post 293,000. I have been doing sessions of it since Friday night.
