'Caliper' is spelt with one 'L' :P

Where does the caliper sit? As i've seen disk brake conversions with chassis clearance problems. It looks like you can position the caliper in front or behind the axle housing?

they will be approx $380 a pair and will suit sierra's without hand brake drum. vitara's to come shortly after. handbrake sierra will be catered for with a different caliper later.

Looks nice.

sometimes having the slot can be good also not taking the brakes off when changing wh bearings or broken axle.

so guessing also the pintara caliper is using less force then the sierra calipers so not lockups? is this also using the zook front discs?

Mines narrow track 1.0 litre, when caliper sat upright, it hit my chassis.
This may not be an issue with Wide track, and/or less travel suspensions. My bolts are 45* out from wt, also.
Problem was solved by rotating them forarward one bolt. Just a pain when bleeding, as nipple needs to be vertical. I undo caliper and slide it up top for bleeding, then slide back and rebolt.
NB mines a home made kit by a different Joey mate.
It looks to me like you could vary caliper positions.

the caliper sits facing rearward and bleeding is not a problem as the nipple is in the correct position. oh, and changing wheel bearings is not much of an issue remembering it uses LARGER bearings so they don't need to be replaced as often.

That'd be just a slot in the bracket yeah?

The flexible brake line, is that a stock Sierra front?
Handbrake cable is from the caliper donor vehicle?
What's the swaybar off?

the axle can slide out once the bolts are un-done. the brake like is the one for the caliper, as is the hand brake cable. the swaybar is factory early 1.0 litre lwb, very rare. can get ya some pics of the sway bar if ya want.

Just send me the swaybar :P

I've got a Vit one I was going to try to adapt to it but I was afraid it was going to be a little too stiff.

Joe how would the proportioning go if I were to fit GV Front discs and calipers?

Are you using sierra front rotors with these calipers?

What are you suggesting people do for wheel hubs? Would you include in your $380 price machining/cutting down of buyer supplied standard rear drums for use as axle/rotor hubs?

Joe I reckon you could sell these (i would buy them) if you could supply the hubs/hub machining as well.

A snake racing kit is $480 with Hubs.

A spidertrax kit is around $380AU shipped with hubs.

Noteably both these kits use sierra calipers and rotors and don't account for handbrake application though.

Anyway just a few thoughts etc for you to ponder! :D

AFAIK Joe uses an R31 caliper with these which has a built in hand brake.

I have a pair of pintara rear calipers and discs. (Calipers are same as magna rears)

So when do you start production of these babies to suit 89 onwards WT Zooks?

O.K people. I have been busy finishing drawings, instructions etc for these mounts and they are just about ready to go. Everything has been on hold for a while as i waited for steel prices to settle down and stop fluctuating so much, which they seem to have done (for now!). I have also slightly re-disigned them to eliminate the machining process, so please check out the jpeg at the bottom. Here are a list of features etc that will hopefully answer most ask questions.

- They will suit all Sierra's with handbrake in the rear drums.
- They are designed to make use of the larger RW507 wheel bearing available from all bearing outlets. Please note with these bearings you must still use the Sierra retaing collar and seal.
- Laser cut adaptor will be an option but is still being designed. You can either get someone to machine down your drums or use the adaptors. They will not come with the kit and must be ordered seperately.
- The hanbrake mechanism is for the owner to work out, but i will supply some pictures of how i have done mine. I used the Nissan cable and adapted it to my Sierra with a few brackets. I will be looking at making adaptors for the Nissan cable but bear with me. If i do these will also be a seperate item.
- There must use a rubber brake line from caliper to diff. The reason i say this is i have seen many people take a shortcut and hook up a steel pipe directly to the caliper...THIS WILL NOT WORK AND IS UNSAFE. It will take someone with a flaring tool 5 minutes to do it properly.
- Depending on your vehicle wight a proportioning valve will not be required. The reason i say this is to warn anyone with a cut off arse end that has less than factory wieght- it may over-brake on the bum. To those with normal and or heavier arse end you will be fine.
- I'm hoping to now get the mounts under the 300 buck a vehicle mark, but i will know more in a week or so.
- They will be zinc plated and come with fastening hardware.

I have also done non rear handbrake mounts using toyota stuff for people with t/case brakes. If anyone is keen on these let me know.
