i have been rebuilding my front hubs on my sierra, and i replaced the bearings.

i put the new bearings in and i did the nuts up but i can't get both nuts in far enough so when i put the hub on i can't get the cir-clip on.

it's as if something isn't in far enough,

if that makes sence!
thanks for any help :D

the circlip on the end of the freewheeling hub? got nothing to do with the wheel bearings.

long as everything is bolted up properly it should pop on, screw an 8mm bolt into teh end of the CV stub to pull it out, thats helps a bit

yea i pulled it out, but when i bolt the hub on it hits the nut, because the nut is still stickin out from the end of the stub axle thingy!

so the middle part of the hub thats held on with the 8mm bolts wont bolt up cause it hits the 50mm nuts that adjust the bearings?

did you get teh bearing races all the way in?

is the outside bit of the race flush with the hub?

did you do the nut up to 50 ft/lb and back it off and set preload like the book says?

is the circlip necessary. i killed both of them removing them and wasn't able to get replacements so i just slapped it back together without them. am i going to have problems without the circlips?

Speaking of those circlips, has anyone found a replacement for them? I would really like some with the little holes in the ends to put your circlip pliers into. I hate the OE ones, they are a mega major complete utter PITA :x :x :x

I use the dremel and shape a groove in each end. It works well enough.

stops the CV sliding in and not being in the same plane as the steering, though heaps of people dont have em

you can get proper C-clip pliers as well, I would rather pull the C-clips off a sierra than circlip from a vitara, heaps easier
