I have a kd-kpr35 jvc head unit that I pulled from a swift months ago.
I just pulled the old head unit put that I head and I've tried installing this one but with no luck.

I have the red and yellow wiring correctly wired I where the other unit was running to. Red has an inline fuse I also have it earthed, and I know so as it sparked as I tried to.

Not sure if it's burnt out as it smelled funky and ran hot when it was plugged in.

Anything I'm missing??

You should probably check the inline fuse if it arced out to ground.

Other then that you will have a constant 12V (sounds like the red)

An accesory switched 12V feed which will turn the unit on and off (probably yellow)

And an earth, (probably black)

As long as it has all this hooked up it should be all systems go

Yep and it looks good.

The red and yellow wires, I just put them to where I pulled the old unit out from. And earthed te new unit to the same place as before.

Have you got a test light? Or multimetre? To test that you have a gpod earth and that you are definately getting battery voltage to the yellow and red wires.
