i would like a good lift for my vitara as its too low at the moment im looking for about a 4 inch suspension lift. i allready got a 2 inch body and 2 inch suspension but still bottom out on alot of things and im only runing 30's are there any good 4 inch lifts i dont really want to cut and fit larger wheels

if you put that much lift into a vitara your gonna have issues with CV angles i would think.
IMHO bigger tyres are far superior to any amount of lift.

I have a 50mm body lift,
40mm Old Man Emu springs,
50mm coil spacer lift,
with 31's.
Wheel Arches clearances were done before I bought it.
But I also have shock repositioners on rear,
40mm over sized struts up front,
Front diff drop brackets.
And bump stop extensions.
Basically all to keep the stock OME travel,
and protect cv's,
after 50mm coil lift.

This Vit runs 7.50 16s, similar to 235/85s, and I haven't seen it stuck yet. They measure a true 32 inches (measure your 30s, they might just be 29s). I believe it only needed extended bump stops, no cutting required. No suspension lift in this photo but has since been fitted.

Bump Stops limit up travel, in vitaras they are inside the coils.

that might be something to think about i am after a new set of wheels os i could get them in that 235 85 and see how they go i might need the bump stops done but not to sure as its been suspension lifted and body lifted a total of 4 inch. do you know anyone how has a spare set of that size wheel so i can try it on my and see how clearance is?

Are there any good 4" lifts? No. I thought I liked the altered ego kit, but after reading the install thread on Pirate I think it's scary rubbish.
I don't know what you are driving orangeshannon, but I can't see how a 4" lift will make your car more capable. The biggest problem is those tiny tyres. You can lift your car 18" but it's still going to be the back diff clearance that catches you out.
Personally, I'd leave the suspension alone and run some 7.50 16's. (or 235 85 16's) on GV or 2.0 V6 vitara rims.
Maybe check the club out - we have some interesting vitaras in the club.

looks really good and not a bad price but if i was to suspension lift it i will be getting 32's or maybe 33's if i can fit without cutting.
im going to be going to the suzuki 4x4 club vic this month so i'll have a looksy at what the other are running to get an idea. this lift wont be for a little while i just wanted more info on whats the best you know. i gota to do engine work first

Best lift for the front would have to be chassis cut and drop as it keeps every thing stock
But I don't know if u could get it passed in aus
Don't see why not people get chassis extensions passed for ruf
Back I would go fliped radious arm and panhard rod
That's alot of work but it would drive like a stock car still and could get 6" lift out of it pretty easy

A) I don't think this kit is well designed or constructed.
B) It's not going to get passed by an engineer in Vic as far as I can see.
The problem with these kits is that they are cheap - suzuki owners are tight and they aren't going to pay for coilovers, billet arms etc for a cheap car. As a result, kits like the Calmini kit and the altered ego kit look like the best thing since sliced bread when in reality they are built down to a price and they are of only average quality.
got_bar_work - a chassis drop? are you for real? How is a chassis cut and drop different than an huge body lift? The diff and A arms end up in the same spot as pre lift, and that's where the capability limit is. I don't think there's any advantage in removing a A-frame 3 link and replacing it with radius arms and a panhard. Radius arms are a more compromised solution than the stock vitara suspension IMHO.
The end result would be a car with a stock front roll centre (all ready too low) and a high rear roll centre (already too high) and high rear roll stiffness. I don't think it would drive like a stock car - I think it would be very tail happy.

Doing the rear like yours was the only way I could think to keep the arms flat with out droping big arm hannagers down blow the chassis to get the lowers flat
And the front drop at least keeps every thing in stock angles . I think it's the chasing down travel after lifting the front that's the cause of breaking cv as it gives u more steering lock
I don't think front diff clearance is usually a problem it is the middle of the chassis that's always sitting on the ground that I find I always get stuck on and I have 3" lift and 31

Or best option yet keep it stock and Joe makes portals for evey one.
I found a design u might like it uses a vertical shaft with beveled gears either end and on the axel ends
The piviot point is the center of the shaft so there is no need for a cv and the only thing limiting steering is chassis clearance
There off some kind of tractor

Seen them. Have a look at a sut away of the front end of a vitara and you'll see why this cant work - the shaft can't be vertical so there's no possibility of steering axis inclination - it has to be vertical as you note. As a result, it's a great solution for tractors, a terrible solution for a road car.
I still don't understand the chassis drop idea. I've seen plenty of them from the UK and I think the end result is the same clearance as a stock vitara at the lowest point ( the A arm mounts on the chassis and front crossmember) but a scary tall car.
As for flipped radius arms = it's really, really going to screw with the handling. It's great for clearance, but that's irrelevant as you'll be snagged on the front crossmember before the diff gets a chance to drag.
IFS is all about tucking the diff up out the way IMHO and improving handling via low unsprung weight.
Portals are a great idea for an IFS design - the H1 Hummer is amazingly elegant, as high clearance and huge weight capability, but messing with IFS is far more complex than live axle work.

is that a vitara with gv 16 x 7 rims with 16x7.50s????????
