Always interested to see how other members vehicles stack up to each other. In particular height and track width from resulting mods. So if you want to participate in the thread just pull out your tape and do a few measurements. *Note this is not a pissing contest, no points here for anything*

This is how I think a comparison of height/width would work. We will measure from level ground up to a standard point even on a highly modified vehicle. Can't use guards as a few have VL's or extensions etc, so use door handle heights.

Static Height Measurement:

Measure from ground to the bottom of the door handle. Measure both sides to account for sag and average by dividing by 2.

Static Height/Tire Diameter Ratio:

Use your calculated static height and divide by your nominal tire size in inches.

Height/Width Ratio:

Use static height and divide by your overall width. Measure width from outer sidewall to outer sidewall of your rear tires.

Example: Lil foot PS = 1035mm DS = 1040mm.

Static height = (1035+1040)/2

= 1037mm

Static height/tire diameter ratio

= 1037/30

= 34.56

Height/width ratio

=1037/1610

= 0.644

So for this comparison thread to work copy the following into your post and add your info to it. Order by height/width ratio ie if your h/w ratio is larger than mine add your above mine, if lower add under and so on as the list grows. Add a short mod list, if you don't have a bl or extended shackles no need to fill out.

Add in further sections for your vehicle type if not sierra.

Name - Model - Height/width ratio - Static Height - Static height/tire ratio
Setup - Tires - Diffs - Springs - Shackles - B/L

Sierra's

JrZook - SWB WT - 0.644 - 1037 - 34.56
(30x9.5's on 15x7s, WT, RUF, Custom springs)

Smiff did you read the first bit of the thread? The average gets rid of the sag/uneven ness. These measurements won't be dead accurate but it forms to give some sort of guide of other member's setups.

Yay I'm not the tallest SV.... pretty sure I did the maths correctly. goes to show how much the calmini kit has settled in 5+ years. :?

1037 was my average door handle height.
1820 was my width

I'd just like to point out, regarding the height of my LJ. Its really low, makes my Sierra look like an office block. Thing is the door handles are positioned really high on an LJ

Seeing as us LJ guys all have different/no doors maybe we should measure to something different? How about the indicator in front of the door? Or maybe the top body rib in front of the door?

I'l measure mine up once it's on level ground.

I went to the bottom edge of the handle itself dude (the bit that lifts up) as I figured that'd be more inline with sierras/LJs.

Yours certainly looks taller than mine still in photos, so I'm guessing you measured to the bottom edge of the handle insert?

yeah i went with the bottom edge of the handle insert, will remeasure it tomorrow. would be good to get an under rear diff measurement as well to compare clearance.

So with the height/width ratio, my result was a lower number than yours Jr, but my static height it taller. Does that mean mine is wider?

Fixed.

Although I am curious why it was changed. I know we have to use a point of reference, but surely height/width ratio is more relevant? :?

I think it changed because people didn't pay attention.
I agree, height width would be betterer.

I wanted it to be ordered by height/width ratio originally (lowest to highest) but it started to go all over that place but yes I will re-order them is it was men't to be  .Only issue I see here is the in-accuracy in measuring overall width, but then again this only serves as rough comparison :D

Height/width ratio (vehicle aspect ratio) will give an overall idea of the vehicle's stability related to COG. Lower H/W, the vehicle is theoretically more stable etc.

Ok last change, order will go by H/W ratio, lowest to highest append to updated list, sorry for the confusion

The idea here is that the higher your height/width number, the more likely it's going to be to tip over compared to the others yes?
