can anyone give me some tips on fusion welding? atm. i just heat the metal up till its liquid then poke rod into it move a lil repeat. im sure its wrong. its only lil crap for a demo bored at school. my mig, arc, and brazing are best in the class but my fusions just pop and crack and fly every were and look like shit. i got to the point were i just arc welded the pieces and hacked em up with the oxy and told my teacher they were fusion!

but its pissing me of.

sounds like the presssure is to high and the tip is close to the metal

what do u mean by neutral? as u can probs tell my teacher isnt the best. i prety much taught myself to do the other styles. there are five torches running of one bottle (1 oxy 1 asset) the bottles have regulator thingys pressure guages but the torches themselfs just have the normal on off taps.

Learning to find the information yourself is a skill you very much need to learn.

And THE most important thing fusion welding i've found is pressure's need to be good.

Don't bother adding metal until you can get a nice even consistant puddle/keyhole happening and moving along the length of the plate. Don't bother trying to glue two bits together, just do several runs and learn how to keep the nice spread of heat and a good sized puddle happening before you add other things into the mix.

I think it's either CIG or Lincoln wire.

At work we use CIG verti-core i know that, but i did that weld at tafe...

I can't yet :oops: dad has the welder set up for TIG so i have to wait til he is finished before i can start welding them up (Have to swap it back to MIG) :wink: and i don't think those welds are going to be awesome...it's been a while sense i have welded steel that thin :roll:
