just want to know if 2 door 92 vit are alright, apparently last of the carby model

Please don't turn this into a thread where it takes 45 replies to get to what you are really asking.

What do you want it to do?
Have you found a specific car or are you asking in general, because the last year for carby was 1994.
What do you drive now? (as in what are you comparing it to?)

In my opinion, the front diff is rubbish, the carby motor is terrible, they have crap handling and crap fuel range, so for me, no they aren't "alright," but none of that might be important, so maybe it's alright for what you want.

Id' be looking for an auto efi model (post 94 SWB or any LWB) a 92 carby should be very, very cheap by now.

if i bought one with a shot motor 4 $500 would it be a decent base to build apon

Yes, but again, it depends on what you are building it for. I think it's a good candidate to drop a baleno EFI motor into, but otherwise depending on what driving you want to do, the other issues of the vitara may or may not be a problem.

Have a look at build threads by Atari and Christover, these give you a good idea of what you have to do to sort out the issues with a vitara.

Otherwise, look for accident damage and rust, but otherwise, $500 is an OK price.

Oh, I'd add, I'd skip if it's a JX - you want power steering. the base model (JX) didn't have PS

My JX has power steering.

Was it an option only thing for JXs from factory or something?

Some ones a bit grumpy today, do you need a hug ?

Well i disagree with you about the Vits... yes the front diff can be prone to breakage, but really, how often does it happen, you would have to drive very hard/like a maniac for it to break... i had a 89 Vit with a carby engine, with 220,000kms on it, and i found it went very well... mine handled very well... they can be a bit thirsty, but get the carby and engine tuned well, and i could easily get 400kms from a tank... personally, i say that YES, the 92 Vit is alright/good, and if you can get one for $500, with a shot engine, and you got the time and know how, to get it going, maybe do an EFI engine swap... then you will have a good base Vit to start a build up on ! :wink: :D

I wouldnt buy a 20 year old car with a stuffed engine

if the engine hasnt lasted its been because its not been looked after, so the gearbox, diffs, suspension are all probably stuffed too

so you spend say $2k on a baleno conversion ad you have a 20yo car with a great engine and stuffed everything else

its always going to be cheaper to buy a later model or better condition one, even if you have to borrow to do so than try and fix up a shitter

i just bought it, its a 90 soft top elect window pwr steer ex cond,body wise .white alloy bull bar.it runs good lookslike new head, new radiator.. head wasnt retentioned and blew gasket ..oil milky paid $750 new uhf radio and he thew in some old 33 wranglers ialso have a drover not running properly stainless gas tank, but fuel tank that was built to fit underneath next to tank is stuffed any ideas runs on gas but like carby prob
