Is anyone running these gears? I want to know if they should be as loud as mine seem to be. The WRC-dog-cut-gearbox sound is going to get old pretty quick I think

Yeah. It's normal. I'm running Trail Gears 6.5:1.
Its only bad enough to annoy when driving fast enough (ie 4th or 5th low). And if doing enough driving at that speed i'd probably end up flicking back to high anyway...

What about high range though? That's my problem at the moment.

shouldn't be that loud?
they definetly are a bit louder in 5th cruising on the highway, but nothing to annoy me, especially with the radio blaring trying to drown out the hum of the claws/baaap of the exhaust as well!

Shifting in mine seems fine, it's just the whine that is annoying. I definitly ground out enough of the case.

just wait till the shitty gears wear down and get a bit sloppier, then they will be fine
try some different oil perhaps?

I'll try that, not sure what to go with though. Any suggestions?

maybe some real good quality synthetic transmission oil? something with a bit better buffering characteristics that will dampen it a bit?
sometimes engine oil shuts up gearboxes, but it might stuff your transfer

Even the 4.whateveras I put in mine whined in high range Damo. It went away pretty quick though. Might put some good quality synthetic transmission oil in the missus. See if that whine goes away.

2. "least it auto-drains once a month...."
3. "Warning- upshifting MAY result in explosion"
4. "if its hard to get in reverse, more oil needed"
