thanks man but the guts of it looks diff to that even my mate who is a mechanic didnt know how it came out. thinking it mite be a non serviceable unit.

It'll be serviceable, but most mechanics usually drop them off at the auto elect to do, which is probably why your mate can't pull it apart. Honestly though, by the time you get it apart and chase up the parts you need, you're better off probably just getting your mate to get you a new unit with warranty at trade price.

ended up getting it rebuilt for $120 :) its good having connections.
