Your a closet coily lover from way back

Like most college girls, I too experimented with same sex relationships whilst owning a coily. But it was a brief time in my life and I have no interest in homosexuality any more, since getting rid of my coily. However I wish you all the best in your future sausage fest exploits as a coily owner  :thefinger:

Hahhahah epicc! So coily's are shit then?

No. As much as we give them and their limp wristed owners a hard time, all sierras are good. You just need to approach the modications in a different manner than you would for a leafy sierra.

Personally I'd rather a coily than a jimny. Having said that, they do work a lot better when the front suspension is setup like the jimny. But gearing solutions, tyre size and ground clearance are far better in a coily than a jimny. With a 1.6EFI and some carefull mods and reinforcing, a coily can be a good thing.

pretty sure there are few different options for bar work? air lockers, lift kits like the Off Road Armory kit, upgraded CV's, transfer gears from APIO & the other mob that i can't remember their name + basic spring lifts from the regular brands like OME, TD etc all off the shelf.

can you even get gears for a coily case? upgraged cv's? air locker for the front?

sure things can be swapped with a WT like a front diff swap to get upgraded CVs & locker, swapping in a WT xfer case etc but then it gets to the point where it's not really a coily any more.

how long was the build run on the SJ80?

All the aftermarket gear for the jimny is born of europe. And they have a very different approach to modifications and accessories than us aussies are used to. The Yanks get it, but they don't have jimnys in their market, so no parts from there.

And as far as swapping in leafy parts to make the coily better, well....whats wrong with that? Same goes for swapping a vit motor into a leafy. Just adds a little more spice to the recipe that Mr Suzuki used.

No idea on numbers sold, but they stopped production of the coily in 97 or 98 I believe.

doesn't matter where it comes from, aftermarket support is aftermarket support. hell my front bar came from taiwan cause it's currently the only option for the SV's.

pretty sure the TSOR coily bar is the only one that is actually built for the sj80? i know the arb bar fit's but it doesn't fit 100% or needs some mods???? :?

all well & good if you can do some fab work, but for people that want bolt on gear i think the jimny has more aftermarket support than the coily.

The 3rd gen started production in 1995 and the Jimny replaced the Sierra in most markets after 1998, but I think its still in production in India.'

Get a jimny if you want bolt on mods...or get a coily if you don't want bolt on mods apart from TSOR front bar

Sorry Dave..

In all seriousness, They will both perform with great results. It all about the timeline vs. expectations you have, how much money you want to spend, what you want the car to perform well at and which one you like the look of more.

They're both Zooks so which every way you may or may not choose to go its going to be frustrating, annoying and will probably make you swear lots but its going to be fun
Thats my 2c anyhow..

Hahah ok guys! Well the one thing that I was wanting to make sure that I got was the transfer case with some sort of gearing that would return 31' tires back to 'near-stock gearing' so that I can actually get it up to 100k/h haha
Is it going to be an issue to do that with a coily?

That might be a issue with both with a bit of messing around oh and 31's on a jimny is a bit of work in it self

Gears are piss easy. But before you worry about that, you should buy a vehicle
