Hi guys,
I am think about planning a cape york trip in the sierra.
I am just a bit worried about all the water crossings.
I want to do a 1.6 conversion before i go aswel then it wont be slug.
also thinking about towing a small trailer just for some added room.
Does anyone have tips or experience ?

Did it on a bike back in 07, fucking awesome it was, would be great in a sierra with the top off going through the telegraph track.
Highly recommend doing the Starke track on the east coast, you'd need a jerry to get through since its pretty remote.

Thanks for the link, I will be sure on convince some one else with a bigger car to join me, i think it will be quite challenging in a zook as you have limited space but i think it will be awesome. 2-3 weeks im hoping for.

Nah mate, we did it on bikes unsupported, i'd easily do it solo in a sierra.
1 20L jerry, water, camping gear, toolbox & spares, and your set.
We rode up from Cairns to the tip, came back via the starke track to cooktown, then rode all the way back to sydney.

how far apart are the petrol stations going that way? its something ive always wanted to do but not wanted to carry a few jerry cans...

Hahahaha yeh i am thinking about a custom long range tank when i do the EFI conversion maybe 100L and then some jerry cans aswell
