So I finally found time to start putting my snorkel together. I had the pipe sitting on my garage floor for 4 months and thought it was about time I did something with it!

Here's a few pics of what I've done so far... Still need to put a bend at the top and mount it to the A-Pillar.

I'm going to stitch a bracket onto the pipe then bolt it into rivnuts. I need to find a rubber elbow bend 2"-3" to join it to the airbox too. Where am I going to find one of those?

Scrawn maybe try ebay mate or a performace shop. Every man and his dog with a fully sick civic swap their intercooler pipes over for those blue elbows. I think I've even seen them at the big Supercheaps.

Yes Royce it's called Brisbane Air Cleaners. They are the same road as the brickworks. Lefthand side going towards the brickworks before the second set of lights.

An early birthday present arrived in the mail today...

Image

This is to join the snorkel to the airbox. I'll have a play after dinner and see if I can dummy fit it up.
I got it from the funny on-line store that Taff suggested. Almost got distracted with the crafty stuff but managed to find what I was after

Well, finally got a chance to finish off my snorkel today. The paint left a little to be desired but the rest looked ok for a throw together job.

This is the mounting bracket on the 'A' pillar

very clean job, although id like to see a more sturdy bracket and another holding it inside the bonnet, i imagine a drivers side flop would push it straight into the guard n bonnet..

I reckon the head looks like its sitting to high to.. but thats just MHO.

shipping $ to melb? pipe work only=? lol..

Great job. I'd like to make one but i've got a virtual lift so i need to see if i can fit the pipe along the bay to the battery and have it exit out the guard or side of the bonnet.

I thought about a bracket inside to hold it but then it wouldn't come out easily. The current bracket is pretty sturdy considering the weight it holds but yeah, it would get pretty messy if it flopped over. I do have scrub bars to go back on that will help protect it all somewhat.
The angle of the photo makes the head look like it sticks up further than it actually does, doesn't look too bad in the flesh. Didn't want it sitting too high but had to keep it out the way of the drivers sight too, bit of a compromise.
Running it straight out where I did through the guard was the easiest and cleanest for me. I didn't like the way some came out behind the battery, too messy with all the bends. I guess if you have a virtual lift there aren't too many other options though.
