Never heard that engine no. used before... Must be a yank thing, google comes up with G16KC, G16KV, G16B all under 16-valve headings so possibly not identical.
KC - maybe specific for Californian emissions? No idea what KV would be, but best guess US variant, where the 16B is the Jap version we got?
EDIT: just did a bit more digging - the pistons are different, rings etc and compression rates will differ...

geez its hard to get a straight answer some say yes some say no some so i dont know..this is what one place said... Yes, the engines are basically the same. The cylinder heads probably can be interchanged because some heads are for the aluminum rockers and some heads are for the steel rockers arms.
The only thing that I see that might be different is the camshaft and possibly the oil pump. Some have the oil pump with sensor and some do not have the sensor.
I think everything is interchangeable except the oil pump.
Ron-RPM...anyone shed light on that?

ive just pulled apart 10 engines , 8 were g16b , 1 was a G16k , and 1 was a g16N (never seen this before!!)
the g16k was a baleno spec engine , it had a baleno sump with a crank position sensor. the block was also different , as in the maincaps were different , the same as some brand new blocks ive bought in the past , the sump on a sierra doesnt need modifying with this engine block !
the g16N im not sure of , i didnt take notice of the engine config , only realised the engine number after it was stripped

I just checked the ebay link you posted , and that will suit a g16B 16 valve engine , X90 , vitara , and baleno share the same pistons (as well as a lot of other parts)
the oil pump will also be fine , its used on 1.3 jimny (sn series) , se series vitara , sy series baleno , and x-90 , also 1.6 (sq) grand vitara
