I've noticed that there is a heap of play in the tie rod lever on my LJ50. It's particularly bad on the large front bolt. I've got very loose steering, about 45 degrees of play.

How do you tighten this up? I presume you need a bushing kit?

The large "L" shaped cast lever under the radiator? There is a bush inside that lever, but they haven't been available from Suzuki in Aust for some years. Find yourself a good used one, or order the bits from the States on lj10.com.

LJ50 and 80 used a 2 part bush and seal, while the Stockman used a different design single bush.

If it's the ball joints in the rods, they aren't replaceable, but new aftermarket rods are available from a seller on Ebay.au.

It's the L shaped lever. Is there any point in just attempting to tighten the bolts up without a new bush?

No, it will be just trying to tighten shackle bolts on worn spring bushes, it wont stop fore and aft movement.

Just don't ask for a whole lever, as the LHD item is a mirror image and won't work in a Righty.
