hey guys

last month i bought a decently modded sierra, g16 baleno/vitara motor, the tranfer gears are 6.5:1 i think? 1st in low4 is pretty much useless unless your trying to climb a brick wall  (i actually did get the front wheels up on small brick wall haha), most of the suspension is calmini and it looks to be around 10 inches higher overall (including 3 inch body lift and 31's) than a standard sierra :o feels pretty good and stable due to the massive width caused by the massive offset wheels  its foot print is nearly as wide as a patrol :P and shit it flex's well!

the problem: I keep bending the standard steering arm from steering box to tie bar like a banana nearly every time i take it off road (well over big rocks) and it is beggining to do my head in!

is there anything i can do to stop this from happening?
it doesnt seem to be binding on anything while flexing up

its also running the calmini shackle reversal kit up front if that makes a difference?
i was looking at a high steer set up, but the way the mount to the hubs has got me worried

i think the "massive offset of the wheels" you are talking about has contributed significalntly in the bending of your steering... what model sierra is it? what size tyres and wheels do you have? (and offset) if it's a Narrow Track you could put Wide Track diffs in it and less offset wheels and it will still have the width you are after and bend less stuff!

its a 91 wt, the tires are 31x10.5x15. the exact offset i am unsure of, they are roh steelies that have had the barrel of the wheel removed, reversed and re welded

will post pics once i resize them

just measured the offset of the wheels to be -80 the wheels are 15x8.5

im thinking of sleeving the drag link, im confident i can do it safely, 6 years in the trade as a beater has me pretty confident i know what im doing when it comes to welding 8)

sounds like it has had the diffs put under the springs and now has a z bar like this one in it.

taken from http://128.83.80.200/taco/scarysteering.html

Best thing is to take said z bar and throw it as hard as you can at the next commonwhore that drives past your house.

Then research drop pitman arms, and hi steer options.

so if its spua where besides the body lift is the rest of your 10 inch lift coming from.
high steer wont work with a spua setup that I can see.
A drop pitman arm may work.
and are the drag link and tie rod touching at flex ? the diff will move backwards under compression with a shackle reversal.

well by looking at puresuzuki.com the shackle reversal is two inches by itself, the rear had drop shackles but i pissed them off because they were useless in the set up the car has and chucked a set of TSOR shackles in, the springs are calmini too i just havent bothered trying to read the part numbers yet to reference them to the ones on the webstore...

there are no binding marks to indicate that the drag link and tie rod have touched at flex, and the shackle reversal is pitching the diff rearward during up travel which is stopping me from going up to 33's  so i think i might unbolt the reversal kit and go back to shackle up front once i sort this out and stop needing to spend money on the swift
