Hey guys i got a new battery recently and now i have the problem of every time i start my car its fine, but as soon as i turn on the lights the fuse for the radio, clock and dashboard lights blows. Any ideas how to fix? Its werid because the headlight fuses are fine and so is the external amp for the speakers.

Pull the stereo out, cut the earth wire off where it was connected to the loom and attach it to the nearest metal surface in behind. Job done.

On the plus side you wouldn't be able to tell you're a ranga with the lights out

It must the wet weather because I noticed a couple of electrical gremlins in the last couple of days. Yesterday I was driving home from work and the engine went dead for a few seconds, then came back to life. I'm guessing ignition went dead. Then today I noticed that the windscreen wipers wouldn't turn off until I turned the headlights off.

I had the dash out recently but up til now everything has been A-OK. I'm thinking there must be a dodgy earth somewhere that the rain has made worse

As Royce suggested, check your tail light wiring for a crushed wire (shorting out) somewhere.

X2... I see you have a coily...

In a coily, the brake proportioning valve arm/spring assembly is directly beneath the loom on the underside of the floor - if your coily has been riding it's bumpstops for a while the arm on top of the axle for the proportioning valve can cut into the loom and cause a short. Had that happen once and it isn't too hard to repair - more a pain in the butt having to add 100mm to the loom to run it off to the side a bit.

LOL... i had a problem with the Head Unit Dimmer Wire in my last 4by. Check it hasn't been mistakenly connected to earth or isn't touching any metal bits :)
