Just remember:

When you buy cheap ebay spotties, you get cheap ebay spotties.

When you buy expensive but quality spotties, you get expensive but quality spotties.

Same as with everything else...

best value for money IMO nitestalker 180mm rounds
great depth and good spread.
I do about 60,000km a year and a lot is in the dark, Ive tried quite a few different ones inc bigger and hid and have found these the best value for money.
spend much more and you will regret the day someone steals them

X2 I ran the 200mm Niteslakers on my old pootrol & they're a great budget light. Put a decent globe in them & give them a good power supply & you'll be happy.

x lots. The 180's are plastic bodied which means they are lighter and hence less likely to vibrate itself to death unlike the metal bodied ones.

I don't need to see 5 billion km's down the road so don't need any bigger.

I think they are good value for money too

Had the 180s and they always filled with water and got heaps of internal condensation.

I run four of the rectangle Supercheap Auto spotties and converted them to HID. They work great, no complaints. They arent exactly cheap ones either, they are around $80 for the kit.

i wouldnt bother man, not enough room in the 175's, would be a waste of a hid kit, just run 130watt globes in them

Also I don't see the point in buying spotties, then buying a chinese HID upgrade kit.

Why not just buy chinese HID sotties and save some money?

But where do the HID kits come from?

I had chinese HID in my ute, and not the cheap ones either. Bulb failed after 6 months.

Atleast with a bespoke housing the HID bulb may have a better chance of resisting damage from vibration etc.

i have hella 175 copys on the front my my zook.. they cost me $15 each (yes i kid you not) and they are THE best light i have ever owned, i have had a few other narva's etc but nothing compairs to them. i know i will proberbly need to replace them in a year.. but at $45 for 3... i will get another set, my lights usualy smash well before then!

Yeah I have some here. Great short distance lights. I would not compare them to a spotlight though. More like a flood. I was not everly impressed with them though.l For the amount of money spend and room on the vehicle consumed, the performance just isn't there.

So the hid's come from china, the bulk of shit today comes from china, I still don't see your point about putting hid's in that then makes them comparable to poor quality lights (not globes)? What do you run?

i bought a pair of rally 4000's hid's from a well known, now no longer, online
4wd shop that were shitter then the 240 blitzes they replaced.
they were so shitty that i gave them away. worse $800 i have ever spent and i will
never buy from a Aussie based mail order company again.

i think that i would like to try a led light bar next

lights that i have had in the past and what i thought.
cibie oscar = awesome lights but on rough roads they chew through globes

cibie oscar plus = same as above

hella 161 and 171= ok for a cheap light but the screws that hold the lens in are shit so it doesn't take long for the lens to fall out.

rally 2000's = great light but the mounts fail

ipf rectangle jobbies = lenses fell out

lightforce 170= best light i have ever owned good spread and awesome distance( with the right filters)

lightforce 240 blitz = same globe as the 170's i reckon they have the same light but are harder to fit on a car.

hella 4000's with hid conversion. = the middle of the light beam was a black hole and fucken were just all round shit. gave them away. they were shit.

With the ones you said where best, the strikeforce 170, was that just the striker or the striker HID?
