Hey everyone, I couldnt find anything on this, but when welding stuff to the diff housing eg, perches, brcing it and diff armour, do you need to take the axles out and the diff oils etc?

Cheers.

No you don't

But be very careful when you're welding, make sure you don't overheat and warp the axle housing

With perches, weld the outside edge of the left perch on.. Then the outside of the right, then inside left inside right, etc etc.. Make sure it has ample time to cool.

I would be striping it to a bare housing if you are laminating, bracing and doing diff armour, you can get away without stripping it if you are only doing perches.

x2

And if you can get the housing professionally degreased in a parts washer ( big hot water washing machine basically) then your welds will have a better chance of be contaminant free.
