if you don't think more power adds in any way to the capability of a vehicle then why do you run a 1600 Vitara engine to yours instead of a 1300 and why have you chased even more power (unsuccessfully might I add) by fitting a 1300 twin cam head to it.

Fatzook is mostly right. I'm not one to knock extra power. I've owned some stupidly modified cars over the past ~15 years.
I just don't believe the commonly discussed engines (ie: 4a series/g13b) offer any 4wd advantages to the old faithful g16b.

I bought my current car with the engine conversion in place as it had all the mods I wanted and saved me a lot of time I didn't have to spare. The engine is the 1 thing I didn't like and I had all intentions to revert back to a G16b.
However the tinkerer in me decided to stick with what I had (as the engine was in perfect health) and see what could be achieved with the combo.
Hence why over the past couple of years I've fiddled with different manifolds, extractors, sc14, fuel systems, cams, headwork, aftermarket ecu's.
Not all aimed at specifically at 4wding either. Moreso just enjoying the opportunity to get my hands dirty and enjoy my toys. Something we're all into right?

By no means would I say my experience has been unsuccessful. I've had all sorts of issues, but you get that with modified vehicles. My only real gripe is that the common opinion of my engine (usually heresay by those unfamilar) doesn't reflect what to expect if you were to perform the conversion. ie: talks of 130hp at the wheels pops up frequently. *cough* aint gonna happen.

Perhaps if my moniker mnemonix troubles you, I should adopt an alternate spurious psuedonym to simplify personification?

This is my experience with your motor combo also. Just a massive let down.

i think it all comes down to what u like to do, and what u drive,

for what i do the gti motor is spot on, that is some crawling about, but alot fo clay, slipery stuff and i love racing up and down dunes. where the power up top is simply what you need... u need to think about what u drive, how u like to drive and get a engine to suit that. no engine is going to suit every one.

I still have the 1.3 original
I don't really care what any one says, it's a nice little engine with the weber and extractors

But when it dies I would like to put a little turbo diesel in it, with gas injection
Yeah, I think that would be nice

thats somewhere close to 100kw yea?

At best with a stock 4ag you'll end up with ~65kw at the rears, and thats in a corolla/sprinter with smallish tires. quad throttles, piggy back computer, exhaust and possibly cam's will get you around the ~100rwkw mark
