Yeah, I'm a sucker for punishment... I've already guttered the Jimny... for all the other panels. I figure while I can't drive it on the rd I might as well get the heater fixed,,,it was 1' here yesterday morning. Stuff that!!

It's been around 18 months since i pulled a dash out but I'll try and help you.

I do remember 2 things the black section of the dash which goes around the speedo assem comes out first it may have hidden screws behind it and I'm thinking screws in the vent holes but I could be wrong.

the Jim I pulled the dash out of was heavily rolled and had no windscreen, I remember screws which were easier to get with out the windscreen but I'm sure there is another way.

do you have a genuine Jimny manual? If not I may be able to get you one.
and I'm sure it will help such a hands on person as yourself.

I have a digital manual, which is pretty good with the break down of stuff, but it is useless for the big jobs.. you need to know how to get into something, or know where to find it..

Like you said the speedo surrounds came off first... pretty easy once I took the switch off for the spots. Couple of screws behind the speedo for te dash, I'll have to take another look at those screw's near the window you mentioned

3 months later, and finally getting back to the Jimny.. Put my back out, then worked away for a couple of months - so haven't touch it till tonight. The 3 screws in the dash - beneath the windscreen, aren't that tricky to get to - but the covers were a pest, found the easiest way to get them out was to use a painters tool, long pointy thingo about 1mm thick,,, just stab it down the side of the covers and then finger nails to pull them out. no worries, Then it was dark so take a look tommorrow to see if the dash comes out now..

Anybody else done this lately?? Just got the airbag out, and a few more bolts,, Everthing feels almost free now, but the Air tubes look like they are still screwed onto the underneath of the dash or something...

Just cant see what the last thing is hold this freaking thing in, I'm ready to break something!! Any more hints would be great!

Ha ha, what a retarded job!!

If you ever tackle this job have some seriously bright lights facing under the dash, there was quite a few - well hidden screws..

Not too hard a job when you can see.. but it is a lot easier getting it all back in, and the heater works well - and doesn't take long to get hot either.
Can't wait to take it for a hiding. Dash out was a good excuse to change out the dodgy factory speakers.
