joe i know you are shit hot at all this but is that cv you have Machined show in those pics finished? or are you still taking all the sharp edges and and putting radius's in the steps to remove the high stress points?

If you are making axles how about LJ ones that can have a 1.3 cv on them
So standard length (lj80) just with 1.3 outer splines and LJ80 inner

that i can do, but why not chuck rear 1.0 litre 26 spline spiders in the front and i can make you some real axles?
but if you want standard let me know.
tooling has arrived this week.......and i feel very poor for it! axle steel has been ordered........all 16 meters of it .
what i need now is for people....or people who know people who have coily and jimny front axles sitting around to take some measurements for me.......
pretty please.....

i'll post some pics of how to measure tonight........ta blue.
started making the 'real' ones out of 4140 black today (excuse the mess on the lathe.....been working on a prototype part for work the past four days....). just waiting on some more tooling to come from china then the splines will be cut.

its tool holding gear i'm waiting on. i tried several aussie companies.....but they were all a holes. the chinese gave me more than i wanted (same gear as australia) for a far better price and listened to what i needed.
bluesuzy.....measure from the rear of the cv where the axle goes in, to the end of the axle. pretty please

nah, just from the back of the cv where the splines go in to the very end of the axle. cv length is not needed as the new ones are longer. thanks blue.

Back of cv star to end of axles.
Longside 718mm
Shortside 390mm
Measured by a tape, so not super accurate.
This what u wanted?

shhhh.....them is dirty words.
the axle i have is from a jimny, as its the same length as the data you gave me blue.
this means that the jimny axles are each 40mm longer than wt, combine that with running my cv's and sierra hubs on a vitara and she will be plenty wide enough. time for a housing i think now.

ok....progress slow but getting there. will post some pics of the axles when i get a chance....(remember).
the new diff using my axles at jimny length, cv's and sierra front hubs comes in at 1440mm. the track width for an estate 1.6 is 1395, and that of a v6 estate is 1455, so overall i'm happy with the result as this could be used for either application.

I already have that, made from 4140, heat treated. Had to use Chinese Cvs but they're heat treated and have welded reinforcing rings. In the process of going to CRMO with 26 spline hytuff axles as 1.3 CVs are nearly as hard to get as 1 litre these days.
