I have just rang my local repco and suzuki dealer and both want around $350 just for the fuel filter. Does anyone know where to get one any cheaper?

You could try Suzi Auto Services or Suzisport and see what they quote.

They aren't a cheap filter like Sierras though - the jimny ones are mounted inside the tank.

Just talked to Suzisport he thinks it isnt the fuel filter and that it is more likely an engine sensor. I have heard of crank angle sensors causing similar issues.

99% it will be the camshaft angle sensor. 230000km is a good run from one - many fail well before 100000km. A random shudder is one symptom. Stalling at idle when hot is another.

A blocked fuel filter will give a lean out condition under full power due to falling fuel pressure, and will be present under all identical conditions. Give the car a long, full throttle pull in, say, 3rd gear - if it doesn't start to feel choked or restricted it's unlikely to be fuel filter related.

unfortunately thats how much they are, and expensive to fit, as stated before they are inside the tank so it needs to come off first.
