i picked up a vitara that is ment to have a blown head gasket.
my question is do they blow gaskets much, warp the heads or should i be looking for a crack in the head and where?

ha ha ha ha...
G16B heads are absolute crap... I went through three before buying a BRAND NEW BARE HEAD .....

Take off the rocker cover and there are some welch plugs under the rocker shaft (3 if I remember correctly). They crack between those welch plugs.

if the head is cracked then i doubt youll be going anywhere by next weekend.
could be worse,the block could have a slight crack

just depends on how quick the postie is if its cracked. swapping heads won't take long.

Bare head was $550...
It's hard to see but there are cracks around the little welsch plug.
This was the 2nd head and the crack is a little more obvious.

Same head and same issues as the G13BB jimny engine. Have fun setting the tappets

well i finally got the head off this arvo and its cracked so i'm about to see where i can find a new head from.
on a side note the suzuki engineers must hate the mechanics or they are kids with small hands! that was the hardest head i have had to pull off.
