What radiators have people used in their sierras I tried a Hyundai excel radiator but it won't clear my p/s box so I need something that isn't as wide
any ideas?
I was thinking that using a radiator that is commonly found in wreckers etc would be good if it were to get damaged

yeah they are im just looking for cheap fixes with radiators that have thermo fans mounted to them preferably alloy i was thinking about rear mounting the hyundai one but id like to keep it front mount.
i went for a walk around the wreckers yesterday with a tape measure but everything was to wide
if there was another 50mm of space in there it would clear

When i got my radiator recored several years back the guy mentioned that it was the same core as a Suzuki Swift/Holden barina. Didn't say which year but i guess you just find the right width one
Pity you're not closer i think i have one in good nick under the house

I have an aftermarket Civic radiator. All alloy. BEHIND the grill.
Driven 150kms on freeway and in medium traffic with no fan. Stayed warm above normal but not hot.
I run a sierra fan with a starlet surround. Thats going in the bin as the fan keeps stripping as it hits the shroud. Next is vit clutch fan with thermo on front with talking with my thermo sensor for the ecu.
Mine was cheap. And also top outlet had to be modded and custom bracket mountings. It is smaller then a sierra radiator, but 3 huge cores deep.
Look for a Jimny rad. They look nice and are a better size. Had one but sold.
Also people use vit's for 1.6 conversions, but they seem wide also. Might be ok with no bigger ps box.
Mine is definately bling, Semi-practical. Excellent cooling power, but buying another and modding will not be cheap.

Used a jimny rad in my sierra for a while, was a little wider and deeper from memory. Worked fine tho, it's in jonnos bus now. Running an alloy ebay sierra jobbie now, keeps the g16 at around 84 degrees with the vit clutch fan.

im running a brand new maruti radiator - adding a thermo tomorrow as it still gets a bit warm with the 1.6.
The maruti rad is alloy with plastic top and bottom tanks and is wider that sierra, so technically should cool a bit better - and its a straight bolt in.

i run a vit rad, works awesome, never gets hot, just keeps a cool head and does it's job.
Not sure about the PS box tho, that will be my next mission, fitting a vit rad and a vit powersteering box in....

That's my concern the civic rad is a bit smaller than the stock rad I think but full alloy and with a thermo fan I think it will be fine it's 3 cores deep too.

do you have any pics of your vit radiator installed brackets etc also the clearance on each side?

I drove for 150k with no fan.
I'd like to see a vit rad do that.

depends on the power steer. if you are running one of those silly wedges and a girly vit box than the vit radiator will have trouble clearing (not a drama with cressida boxes). when we have had clearance issues with stuff (kenny..................... ) we have used plastic tanked sierra rads with no troubles. better than thier copper tanked cousins.

I could have modified the inlet/outlets and placed it behind the grill
But that wasn't as much fun
Also listen to BlueSuzy, he's right
I can drive around all day on the road without ever using the thermo fan
And i only have it on half the time offroad
You can knock Honda all you like, but they have the most efficient radiators and cooling systems of any small to medium car
