Hi guys,

I have been having some performance issues that to me seem to have been getting gradually worse of recent times....

The car really struggles to maintain 100, and cannot seem to get to 110 easily at all now... It struggles to get over 3000 revs for any sort of hill climbs. The jimny is at 30,000km and is due for a service so will be booking that in soon...

Anyhow, does this look like a cracked exhaust manifold to anyone? Not too sure what i'm looking for, but it seemed to have surface cracks...

Thanks,

Matt

I can't see any cracks in the photos you've posted. A crack that's large enough to cause a noticeable performance drop will be VERY easy to spot on the casting.

Yeah they are very small cracks will try taking some decent photos...but as JayKay said...it's like the entire exhaust manifold is covered in little cracks or surface rust along that edge

Now that's an actual crack, not a surface mark or scale. Cracks are annoying, but a rarely associated with performance loss. A very large crack might lean the car out, but the noise it produced would be so annoying you'd get it fixed well before it caused any damage.
I reckon 90% of EFI vitaras are driving around with the whole manifold in about three pieces. I know my donor engine was. Couldn't hear it and there was no evidence it was leaking enough to hear or cause any performance issues.

If it were a "real" crack, the edge of the crack would show exhaust heating/carbon buildup.

I had an SJ 1.3 manifold that actually leaked and showed it. The crack formed at the inside edge of the combining point of Cylinder 3 and 4.

Buy some extractors and get rid of the cast manifold.
