I rainbowed a set of stock springs with a leaf taken out. But that was hitting what I thought was a modest mud puddle that dropped about 37 inches in a drop off. Apart from that the stock springs are so comfy with a bit of air in the Monroe adjustable air shocks I might build something like alien has got. I think that should be perfect as I don't really ever run out of clearance with what I drive.

At the end of the day, is something like what 31zook has done going to be better then running NO trac bar in a SPOA?

No because know there is a fixed constraint imparting forces (indirectly) that previously weren't there. The diff housing in standard rotated about itself now it has something to lever off.

I beg to differ, what gwagonsteve said is right, my lwb now tends to squat a bit on take off (evenly, not one side more then the other) if you think about my leafs on either side as links, my car runs a 3link panhard (without panhard, as my leafs are hooked up to the other side of he chassis).

So my question is, how can the axle housing rotate/twist without one of the lowers shortening or the top link extending? Movement in the housing can only be attributed vertical movement in the housing due to a poorly designed track bar.

As the leaves bend, they effectivley shorten. The problem with single link trac bars like has already been said is that they rely on the front half of the leaf spring for triangulation. This introduces the forces in a different way than normal, but still in an undesirable way.

You are tryings to eliminate forces through the spring not use it as a link

How much bracing is needed when welding it onto the diff housing? Mines currently a bolt on one but needs to be relocated to clear my new hand brake.

I understand its not the best set-up out there. But it does work.

post a picture, you may need to completely re-make all the mounts on the axle housing.....

Good link Chris. Explains what we have been saying. 4 links with leaves is pointless, will bind up and you might as well go coils and get decent travel
