I couldn't find what I was after in search.

I've got what I'm told are manual hubs (Aisin) from a vitara. I also was under the impression they would go straight onto a GV which they nearly do. But they seem to be fowling on the stub axle circlip and the hub is about 2mm from being home so I can bolt it up.

Can anyone tell me do the vitara hubs fit a GV (98-05) and if so why wont mine fit?

They are Sierra hubs, that’s why they don’t fit. You need vitara hubs which are black.

Right. Cheers. I have black ones too. But the internals are rusty. Do you know if the internals are interchangeable? Or I'll sell these and buy new ones.

I'm 99% sure I put Christovers sierra hubs on my GV....

(They were black though)

Leaf spring sierras all ran plated hub bodies with chunky selectors and normal hex head bolts holding the cap on.
Coil sierras and Vitaras use black hub bodies with a black cap that’s smoothly rounded and held on with button head cap bolts.

Coil sierra hubs are the same as vitara as coil sierras have the same wheel bearing arrangement as a vitara

So I broke a part bolting the sierra housings on with the sierra internals. I then took the sierra internals out and put them in the black bodies, the black internals had corrosion and wear on most parts. But I needed to replace the broken part with a spare from the black ones. Then only one the hub with the replaced part would fit on the car. So I swapped the same part in the other hub and they now fit. So I guess the bodies and internals are identical but this one part is slightly different allowing it to fit the gv.

There's a circlip that locates the axle stub in the free wheel hub - on the GV, it sits on the inside (behind) the free wheel hub, on the Sierra, it's on the outside - this circlip is what prevents the Sierra hub from properly fitting the GV.

Got a picture I don't quite follow? This was the only part I needed to change to make the hub fit. The black hubs would not go on with the sierra internals. But just swapping that part they did. I wonder if I put these internals now into the sierra hub would they work. But couldn't be bothered now as I have a set on the car working which is what matters.

Left side is the Sierra hub, #31 is the circlip, it is "outboard" of the free wheel hub.
Right side is the Vitara hub, #8 is the circlip, it is "inboard" of the free wheel hub.
